Inter-Barangay Volleyball Tilt Set in San Pablo, Boosting Local Sports

Grassroots volleyball takes center stage in San Pablo City as the Athletics Federation of the Philippines Inc. (AFPI) rolls out a three-day Inter-Barangay Volleyball Tournament for the Men's Open division from December 12 to 14, 2025.

The event, backed by Councilor John Adajar—an accomplished athlete and MMA champion—and Councilor Barbie Diaz, a strong supporter of youth development, aims to bring together players from various barangays in a festive yet competitive showcase of athletic talent.

In the cool December breeze of San Pablo, barangay teams are gearing up for a spirited battle on the court. For many players, it is more than just a weekend tournament—it is a rare chance to represent their communities, test their skills, and be part of a growing sports movement that starts at the grassroots level.

AFPI officials say the competition is designed not only to celebrate local talent but also to strengthen the federation’s long-term beach volleyball and community sports programs. The organization has been expanding its presence in localities, working closely with barangays, sports leaders, and youth groups to nurture future athletes.

The tournament is expected to draw strong participation, with teams eager to compete for top honors. Across three days, players will serve, block, and dig for every point as families and supporters fill the sidelines to cheer on their hometown athletes. Organizers assure that safety, fairness, and sportsmanship will be at the heart of the event.

AFPI’s continued efforts highlight the growing importance of local sports programs in building discipline, teamwork, and community pride. With the support of officials like Adajar and Diaz, sports in San Pablo City continues to flourish, offering healthy spaces for young people to grow and thrive.

AFPI remains an active partner of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) – Calabarzon, underscoring its commitment to transparency, collaboration, and community engagement.

As the tournament approaches, excitement is building. For San Pablo’s barangays, this is more than a competition—it is a celebration of unity, passion, and the power of sports in shaping stronger communities.
