About KBP Region 4A
The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) in Region 4A or CALABARZON was established through the vision of two veteran broadcasters: Raymond De Castro Gonzales, who pioneered the KBP Quezon Province Chapter and founder of EDGE TV/RADIO group and Roy Bato, whose extensive background includes involvement with the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) and the Publishers Association of the Philippines (PAPI), alongside managing multiple radio stations across the country.
When the pandemic severely affected the broadcast industry—particularly independent and small players in the countryside—De Castro and Bato collaborated to establish Radyo Kalusugan, a platform designed to sustain and support local broadcasting amidst the crisis. They also recognized the need to unite and strengthen the welfare of KBP network members in the region, ensuring that broadcasters in CALABARZON could thrive despite the challenges.
The formation of the KBP CALABARZON Chapter was anchored on the institution’s original mission and vision since its founding in 1973: to represent the interests of broadcast media, to advance the cause of a free and responsible press, and to empower its members to remain a vital force in Philippine society in the 21st century.
